General Paresisli hastaların, yarısı demans, dörtte biri depresyon, mani, paranoya ya da psikoz gibi psikiyatrik hastalıkları taklit edebilir. Günümüzde atipik formlar daha fazla görülmektedir

Syphilis is probably one of the most frequent infections seen in psychiatric settings. Its causative agent is a spirochete called Treponoma Pallidum. CNS Syphilis may present as a form of psychiatric disorder. General Paresis may immitate demansive disorders in half of the cases while one fourth immitate psychiatric disorders such as depression, mania, paranoia or psychosis. Recently, atypical forms of CNS syphilis are more frequent.We present two neurosyphilis cases one with catatonia and the other with mania like symptoms. We also review some literature findings about syphilis and its historical process.
