2 = .41).

Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the marital adjustment and sexual
satisfaction of the participants by considering some socio demographic features. Method: The research was
carried out with 100 married participants who were randomly selected between 23-58 years old, who applied to
out patient clinics other than psychiatry, urology and gynecology, in a private hospital in Istanbul. The femalemale distribution of the sample is equal. None of the participants are married to each other. The participants
were given the SCL-90 scale for screening and then examined by the psychiatrist. Patients with mental
retardation, psychosis and symptoms of dementia, especially those with any psychopathology that could disrupt
general and sexual functionality, and those who were illiterate were not included in the study. Sociodemographic form, Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale and Marital Adjustment Scale were used as data
collection tools. Results: According to the Pearson Moments Product Correlation analysis, level of marital
adjustment was negatively related to the sexual dissatisfaction for both genders. This rate was found in women (r
= -.62, p <.01) and in men (r = -.59, p <.01). In multiple regression analysis, the regression coefficient was
found to be significant in both genders. In the sample of female participants, age, presence of sexual intercourse
before marriage and marital adjustment accounted for 44% of the total variance (R2 = .44; adj.R2 = .41).
According to beta values (ß), marital adjustment significantly predicted sexual dissatisfaction (ß = -. 521, t = -
4.318, p <.001). According to the results of male participants, both age (ß = .320, t = .2.848, p <.05) and
marital adjustment (ß = --.529, t = - 4.688, p <.001) significantly predicts sexual dissatisfaction. Conclusion: A
significant relationship was found to be between marital adjustment and sexual dysfunction. The effects of premarital sexual intercourse for both males and females were not detected, but only a negative relation was found
in men regarding age. The data obtained from the study displayed that male and female participants with a
positive perception of marriage adjustment have more sexual satisfaction.
