Amaç: Bu çalışmada seçici noradrenerjik etkiye sâhip tek ajan olan reboksetin’in, depresyon
ve eşlik eden anksiyete belirtileri üzerine olan etkisini incelemeyi amaçladık.
Yöntem: DSM-IV Majör Depresif Bozukluk tanı ölçütlerini karşılayan ve çalışma protokolüne
uygun olan 43 hasta çalışmaya alınmıştır. Açık etiketli, kontrolsüz ve tek merkezli yapı
lan bu çalışmada hekim ve hastalar kullanılan ilâca kör değildi. Çalışma süresince hastalar
toplam 6 kez değerlendirildi [tarama viziti (-7. Gün), vizit 1 (0. Gün), vizit 2 (14. Gün),
vizit 3 (28. Gün), vizit 4 (49. Gün) ve vizit 5 (70. Gün)] ve her vizite hastalara “Hamilton
Depresyon Derecelendirme Ölçeği” (HAM-D) ve “Hamilton Anksiyete Derecelendirme Ölçeğ
i” (HAM-A) dolduruldu. Çalışmaya alma ölçütlerini karşılayanlara reboksetin 4 mg/gün
bölünmüş iki dozda uygulandı. ‹ki hafta boyunca sâbit tutulan bu doz ikinci vizitte 8 mg/gün
bölünmüş iki doz olarak arttırıldı ve çalışma sonuna kadar toplam 8 hafta boyunca ilâç dozunda
değişiklik yapılmadı. ‹lâç kullanımı toplam 10 hafta sürdürüldü ve çalışma tarama vizitinden
sonraki 11. haftanın sonunda bitirildi.
Bulgular: Grubun HAM-D ve HAM-A ölçek değerlerindeki düşüş tarama vizitine göre vizit
2’den itibâren istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0,001). Tarama viziti ile vizit 1, vizit
2, vizit 3, vizit 4 ve vizit 5 HAM-A ve HAM-D puanlarının fark skorları alınarak birlikte de-
ğişimleri incelendi. Birinci hafta HAM-A ve HAM-D puanlarının tarama viziti puanlarına göre
farklarının istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir birlikte değişim göstermediği, ancak diğer haftalar
için elde edilen HAM-D ve HAM-A puan farklarının birbirleriyle pozitif korelasyonu olduğu saptandı.
Tartışma ve Sonuç: Reboksetin’in depresyon ve eşlik eden anksiyete belirtilerinin sağaltı
mında kullanılabilecek bir ajan olduğu söylenebilir.

Objective: In this study we aimed to investigate the effect of reboxetine, which is the only
agent that has selective noradrenergic effect, on depression and comorbid anxiety symptoms.
Method: This study recruited 43 patients who met the DSM-IV Major Depressive Disorder
(MDD) diagnostic criteria and who were compatible with the study protocol (open labeled,
monocentered, uncontrolled study). Throughout the study, the patients were assessed a
total of 6 times and in each visit the patients were evaluated with the “Hamilton Depression
Rating Scale” (HDRS) and the “Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale” (HARS). Those who
met the inclusion criteria were administered reboxetine 4 mg/day in divided two doses.
This dosage which was kept constant for two weeks was increased to 8 mg/day in divided
two doses at the second visit and no more dosage change was made until the end of the
study which lasted another 8 weeks. Medication was continued for a total of 10 weeks and
it was terminated at the end of the 11th week following the screening visit.
Findings: The decline in the HDRS and HARS scores of the group was significant statistically
starting from 2nd visit with regard two the screening visit. Difference scores of HARS
and HDRS were noted and an analysis was made to compare the simultaneous changes
in visits 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 with reference to the screening visit. It was found that HARS and
HDRS scores of the first week did not show any statistically significant simultaneous change
with regard to the screening visit scores, however, there was a positive correlation between
the score differences of HDRS and HARS obtained in other weeks.
Discussion and Conclusion: Taking into account the effect of reboxetine on the depressive
and anxiety symptoms of MDD, it can be said that reboxetine is an agent which can
be used in the treatment of depression and comorbid symptoms of anxiety.
