Bu araştırmada mizah duygusu, kontrol odağı ve genelleşmiş başarı beklentisi değişkenlerinin sağlık sorunlarının sıklığını yordamadaki rolü incelenmiştir. Toplam 400 öğrenciye Durumluk Mizah Tepkisi Ölçeği, İç-Dış Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği, Genellenmiş Başarı Beklentisi Ölçeği ve Bedensel Rahatsızlık Tarama Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Kız, erkek, lise, üniversite ve tüm grup öğrencilerden elde edilen verilere ayrı ayrı aşamalı regresyon analizleri uygulanmıştır. Bulgular düşük başarı beklentisi, dış kontrol odağı ve düşük mizah duygusunun erkek öğrencilerin sağlık sorunlarını anlamlı düzeyde yordamakta iken, kızların sağlık sorunlarının en fazla yüksek mizah duygusu, dış kontrol odağı ve düşük başarı beklentisi tarafından yordandığını ortaya koymuştur. Bulgular ayrıca, bu üç değişkenin lise, üniversite ve tüm gruptaki öğrencilerin sağlık sorunlarını anlamlı düzeyde yordadığını ancak her analizde bu değişkenlerin yordamaya olan katkılarının farklı sıralarda olduğunu göstermiştir.

The present study investigated the role of sense of humor, locus of control and generalized expectancy for success variables in predicting the frequency of physical health symptoms. A total of 400 students were presented with the Situational Humor Response Questionnaire, Internal-External Locus of Control Scale, Generalized Expectancy for Success Scale and Physical Symptom Checklist. Separate stepwise regression analyses were carried out for the boys, girls, lycee and university students and the whole group. The results revealed that while low expectancy for success, external locus of control and low sense of humor significantly predicted the health problems of males, high sense of humor, external locus of control and low expectancy for success predicted the health problems of females. The results also showed that these three variables significantly predicted the health problems of the subjects in the lycee, university and the whole group, but the order of the contributions of these predictors has changed in each analysis.
