Araştırmalar, travma yaşandıktan sonra kişilerde ya da hayata olan bakış açılarında olumlu değişimlerin de olabileceğini göstermiştir. Bu değişimin gerçekleşmesinde, psikolojik süreçlerin yanı sıra çevresel ve sosyal süreçlerinde önemi bulunmaktadır. Kişinin travmatik deneyiminin sonrasında, sosyal desteklere başvurması, travma sonrası büyümeye katkıda bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, travma sonrası büyüme durumu ile kolektivist başa çıkma stillerinin birbirleriyle ilişkisinin olup olmadığını saptama amacıyla planlanmıştır. Travma sonrası büyüme olumlu bir değişimi veya gelişimi ifade etmektedir. Travmanın değişmez ya da sabit bir sonuç olması yerine, devamlılığı olan bir süreç olduğu ifade edilmiştir. Travma sonrası büyüme kişinin, benlik algısını, başkalarıyla olan ilişkisini ve yaşam felsefesini daha olumlu bir çizgiye taşınmasını ifade etmektedir. Kolektivist başa çıkma stilleri ise, kişilerin günlük hayatta karşılaştıkları sorunları daha çok kişiler arası ilişkilerle ya da toplumsal yöntemlerle çözmeye çalıştıkları bir baş etme yöntemini ifade etmektedir. Buna göre, kişiler sorunlarıyla baş etmek isterken, ailesel destek almak isteyebilir, dini ya da manevi yöntemler kullanmak isteyebilir, profesyonel psikolojik destek alabilir, sorundan kaçmayı tercih edebilir veyahut sorunla mücadele etmeyi de tercih edebilir. Bu çalışmada yapılan istatistiksel analizlere göre travma sonrası büyüme ile kolektivist başa çıkma stilleri arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra travma sonrası büyüme durumunun cinsiyet sosyo-demografik değişkeni ile ilişkisi bulunamamıştır. Ayrıca kolektivist başa çıkma stillerinin de cinsiyet ile bir ilişkisinin olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Eğitim durumu, medeni durumu ve yaşadığı yer gibi demografik özelliklerin travma sonrası büyüme ve kolektivist başa çıkma stilleri ile ilişkili olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir.

In this case, applying for social support contributes to post-traumatic growth. The aim of this study was determined whether post-traumatic growth status and collectivistic coping styles were related to each other. Post-traumatic growth explains a positive change or development. In addition, while people are trying to cope with their problems of collectives as well as collectivistic coping styles by exhibiting attitudes and behavior according to the world values. It is stated that trauma is continuous process instead of an invariant or constant result. Collectivistic coping styles include people trying to solve the problems they face in everyday life by interpersonal relationships or social methods. According to this, when people want to deal with their problems, they may want to take family support, want to use religious or spiritual methods, get Professional psychological support, choose to escape from the problem or choose to struggle the problem. According to the statistical analysis performed in this study, a positive correlation was found between post- trauma growth and collectivistic coping styles. In addition, there was no relationship between gender and collectivistic coping styles. It was observed that demographic characteristics such as educational status, marital status and place of residence did not correlate with posttraumatic growth and collectivistic coping styles.
