Bu araştırma, Gelişimsel Temas Terapisinin (GTT), Dikkat Eksikliği ve Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu (DEHB) semptom skorlarına etkisini retrospektif olarak incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada, DEHB tanısı almış, 6-8 yaş arası 7 si kız 8 i erkek toplam 15 öğrencinin verisi incelenmiştir. Terapinin etkisini ölçmede Conners ebebeyn ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; çocukların dikkat eksikliği, karşıt gelme, hiperaktivite ve davranım bozukluğu puanlarında anlamlı düşmeler saptanmıştır. Bu düşmelerin terapiden bir yıl sonra yapılan izlem testinde de başlangıca göre anlamlı olarak düşük olduğu görülmüştür. Bu bulgular gelişimsel temas terapisinin DEHB’ li çocuklarda faydalı olabileceğini düşündürmektedir. Konuşma terapilerinden farklı olarak, dokunmayı terapötik bir araç olarak kullanan GTT, APA tarafından bir terapi yöntemi olarak kabul edilir. Bu terapinin amacı, çocukların davranışlarında iyi yönde bir değişim sağlamaktır. Bu çalışma sonuçlarından yola çıkılarak, GTT’sinin DEHB’li çocukların ebeveynlerine öğretilmesi; böylece terapinin evde devamlılığının sağlanması, bu konuyla ilgili çalışma yapmayı düşünen araştırmacılara da ilaç tedavisi ile GTT’ni birlikte uygulamaları ve ilaç tedavisinin GTT’nin verimliliğine olan etkisini bulmaya yönelik araştırma yapmaları önerilmiştir.

This research aims to retrospectively investigate the effects of Developental Touch Therapy (DTT) on the symptoms of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There were 15 (7 female and 8 male) participants recruited for the study, at the ages of 6 to 8 years. Conners Parent Scale has been used to collect data for the study. The study results reveal that there has been significant decrease in children’s scores for attention deficit, oppositional defiancy, hyperactivity and conduct disorder. According to the follow-up test scores, administered one year after the completion of study, the scores on all abovementioned dimensions remained significantly lower than the pre-test scores taken prior to any intervention with the children. These results suggest that DTT is effective on children with ADHD. Different from talk therapies and adopted as a therapy method by APA, DTT uses touch as a therapuetic tool. The purporse of therapy is to create positive change in the child’s behavior. According to the results of this study, it is recommended that the parents of the children with ADHD are trained in the methods of DTT in order to retain the positive effects of the therapy in the home environment. It is suggested that the researchers working on medical treatments of ADHD take on the studies to understand the effects of the simultaneous use of DTT and medical treatments on the ADHD symptoms.
