Zehirlenmeler tarihsel süreç boyunca toplumları yakından ilgilendiren sorunların başında gelmiştir(Chirasirisap K et al.1992). Paracelsus’un “her madde zehir özelliği gösterebilir ancak ilaç ile zehri birbirinden ayıran maddenin dozudur” ifadesi her maddenin zehir özelliği taşıyabileceğini göstermektedir(Rendell M et al.1978). Yirminci yüzyılın son yarısında meydana gelen gelişmeler, etkinliği olduğu kadar birçok zararı olan çok sayıda ilacı tıbbın kullanımına sunmuştur. Bu çalışma S.B.Ü Gazi Yaşargil Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi acil servis kliniğine Ocak 2013 ve Temmuz 2018 tarihleri suicid amaçlı başvurular geriye dönük incelendi. . Çalışmaya 890 hasta alındı, hastalar cinsiyetlerine, suicid girişimi öncesi psikiyatrik tanı geçmişi olup olmadığına ve suicid girişiminde medeni durumlarının etkili olup olmadığını belirlemek maksadıyla gruplar belirlendi. Arşiv bilgilerine ulaşılmayan, başvuru bilgileri eksik ya da tam olmayan hastalar araştırmaya dahil edilmemiştir. Kategorik değişkenlerin birbiri ile karşılaştırılmasında Pearson Chi-Square testi kullanıldı. Nicel değişkenler ortalama±SS(Standart Sapma) şeklinde gösterilirken kategorik değişkenler ise n(%)  olarak gösterildi. P değeri 0,05 ten küçük anlamlı kabul edildi.

Throughout the history, intoxications are among the issues that concern society closely. Each substance can carry a poisonous property in accordance with the following quote of Paracelsus:” All things are poisons for there is nothing without poisonous qualities. It is only the dose which makes a thing poison. Developments that have occurred in the last half of the twentieth century have offered the use of many drugs that are effective yet harmful. In this study,  Patients with suicide attempt that applied to the S.B.U Gazi Yasargil Training and Research Hospital emergency department  between January 2013 and July 2018 were retrospectively reviewed.890 patients were included in the study. Groups were determined to determine whether patients had a history of psychiatric diagnosis before suicide attempt, genders and marital status were effective in suicide attempts. Patients whose archive information could not be reached and patients with incomplete information were not included in the research.    Pearson Chi-Square test was used to compare categorical variables.Quantitative variables were shown as mean ± SD (Standard Deviation) whereas categorical variables were shown as n (%).P value less than 0.05 was considered significant.
