Çocuk ve ergenlerin internet ve iletişim teknolojilerinin yeteri kadar kontrollü şekilde kullanamadıklarında siber zorbalık gibi sorun ortaya çıkmaktadır. Siber zorbalık çocuk ve ergenlerde daha şiddetli ve yaygın olduğundan psikolojik yardım sürecinde terapötik yaklaşımlardan Gerçeklik Terapisinin tercih edildiği bilinmektedir. Gerçeklik Terapisinin temel aldığı Seçim Kuramından, bireyin hissetmiş olduğu iyi olmayan ve mutsuzluk veren duygularda dahil olmakla beraber her şey bireyin seçimi olduğunu belirtmiştir. Bu bağlamda siber zorbalık çocuk ve ergenlere yönelik psikolojik danışma sürecinde etkili bir yaklaşım olduğu ileri sürülmektedir.
