Kanser tanısı, aile bireyleri üzerinde belirgin bir
gerilim ve kaygıya neden olur. Son yıllarda gittikçe
artan sayıda araştırma, kanserin aile bireyleri
üzerindeki stres verici etkisini ortaya koymuştur.
Biz de bu araştırmada; hasta yakınlarıyla
görüşmelerimizden ve psikometrik ölçek
sonuçlarından, bu görüşü destekleyen bulgular
aldık.
Hasta yakınlarında tanının öğrenildiği ilk ayda orta
veya şiddetli depresyon % 62 oranında iken,
tanının öğrenilmesinden 6 ay sonra bu oran %
90'a ulaşmaktadır.
Depresyon kadar dikkat çekici diğer sonuçlar da,
her dönemde yüksek gördüğümüz kaygı ile orta ve
ileri dönemde artmış somatizasyondur.
Elde edilen sonuçlar, kanserli hastalara kadar,
hasta yakınlarının da psikiyatrik yardım ve
tedaviye gereksinim duyduklarını bize göstermiştir.

The diagnosis of cancer can generate considerable anxiety and tension within the family. In recent [year]s, a growing body of research has documanted the stressful impact of the patient's cancer on fam­ily members. We, also in this study, from the con­versations with the family members and the re­sults of the pscyhometric scales, have the results that give support to this thesis. Among the caregivers in the first [month] after the cancer was diagnosed, depression was found 62 %. Six [month]s and later on the ratio reached to 90 %. We also found high anxiety in all periods, and high somatisation in the middle and late period. The results are showed us that like cancer patiens, their family members also need psychiatric help and treatment.
