Şizofrenide bilgi işleme ve dikkate ilişkin işlev bozuklukları bilişsel açıdan araştırma odağıdır. Bilgi işleme ve dikkate ilişkin süreçler beyin elektriksel potansiyellerindeki değişmeler ile gösterilebilir. Beklentisel negatif değişim (BND), bu potansiyellerden birisidir. Bu çalışmada 30 şizofren ve 28 sağlıklı deneğe ait BND kayıtlanarak araştırılmıştır. Şizofrenik deneklere ilişkin belirtiler Pozitif ve Negatif Belirtileri Değerlendirme ölçeği kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Hasta grubunda kontrole göre frontosantral ve frontoparietal topografik farklılıklar ile birlikte BND genlik düşmesi saptanmıştır. BND latansında ise uzama bulunmuştur. BND bulguları pozitif ve negatif ikiliğine dikkat çekmektedir.

Attention and information-processing dysfunction comprise a well-known research area in schizophrenia. Information and attentional processes are reflakted in changing electrical potential levels in the brain. One example among these event-related potentials of the brain is the contingent negative variation (CNV). CNV were analysed in 30 schizophrenic patients and 28 healthy subjects. Schizophrenic symptoms were assessed by the Scales for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS) and Positive Symptoms (SAPS). We found attenuated CNV amplitudes with altered topographical distributions over the fronto-central and fronto-parietal areas in the patient group relative to controls. Prolonged CNV latancies were found too. Findings pointed at the postivite-negative dichotomy.
