Psikolojik stres, yara iyileşmesinin bozulması, enfeksiyonlara yatkınlık gibi pek çok bağışıklık ilişkili mekanizmada bozulma ile ilişkilendirilmiştir. Psikolojik stres ile inflamasyon arasında çift yönlü bir ilişki mevcuttur. Kronik stres, vücutta herhangi bir yaralanma olmadan, doğal bağışıklığı uyararak steril bir inflamasyona sebebiyet vermektedir. Ayrıca kronik stres faktorleri otoimmuniteye, erken donemde maruz kalınan stres faktörleri de alerjiye yatkınlık yaratabilmektedir. Akut stres durumlarında ise çoğunlukla, bağışıklık sistemini guclendiren, gecici süre devam eden immünolojik yanıtlar gözlenmektedir. Stres ile artmış inflamatuar yanıtlar, ayrıca serotonin miktarında azalma ve norodejenrasyonda artış ile de ilişkili olabilir. Bu yazıda, Psikolojik stres ile inflamasyon arasındaki ilişki, mevcut bulgular ışığında özetlenecektir.

Psychological stress has been associated with impairment in many immune-related mechanisms, such as impaired wound healing and susceptibility to infections. There is a bi-directional relationship between psychological stress and inflammation. Chronic stress causes a sterile inflammation by stimulating natural immunity without any injury to the body. In addition, chronic stress factors may lead to a susceptiblity to autoimmunity and early stress adverse stress factors may lead to allergy. In acute stress conditions, immunologic responses, which strengthen the immune system, are often observed for a while. Stress-enhanced inflammatory responses may also be associated with a decrease in the amount of serotonin and an increase in neurodegeneration. In this article, the relationship between psychological stress and inflammation will be summarized based on the current literature.
