İntrauterin yaşam; gelişmekte olan fetüsün gelecekteki fiziksel ve ruhsal gelişiminin temellerinin atıldığı bir süreçtir. Bu süreçte maruz kalınan etkenler gebe kadın yanısıra intrauterin ortama da etki ederek fetüsü de etkilemektedir. Özellikle annenin gebeliği sırasında maruz kaldığı belirgin stres, doğacak olan çocukta nörogelişimsel, emosyonel ve davranışsal problemlere; optimal olmayan doğum sonuçlarına yol açabilmektedir. Anne karnında maruz kalınan stres yaşamın ilerleyen dönemlerinde de etkisini gösterebilmekte ve gelişebilecek yaygın kronik hastalıklar için de riski arttırmaktadır. Bu yazıda anne karnında gelişmekte olan fetustan erişkinliğe uzanan yelpazede maternal stresin sonuçları gözden geçirilecek ve bu bağlamda anne ruh sağlığının korunması ve annenin ruhsal problemlerinin tedavisinin önemi ele alınacaktır.

Intrauterine life is a process in which the physiological and psychological development of the fetus is initiated. Several factors affect the fetus by changing the intrauterine environment as well as the pregnant woman. Maternal stress during pregnancy can lead to neurodevelopmental, emotional and behavioral problems, non-optimal delivery results the child to be born. The stress exposed in the mother's womb can also affect in the later stages of life and increase the risk of the common chronic diseases that can develop. In this article, we will review the results of maternal stress and in this context, we will focus on the protection of maternal mental health and the treatment of mother's mental problems.
