Çocuk cinsel istismarı, sosyo-ekonomik sınıf, etnik köken ve coğrafi yerleşim gözetmeksizin tüm kız ve erkek çocuklarını etkileyen yaygın ve ciddi bir sorundur. Çocuğu cinsel istismardan korumak için önleme programları tasarlanmıştır. Bu programlar ilk olarak 1980'li yıllarda ABD ve Kanada'da uygulanmaya başlanmıştır. Ebeveynleri, önleme çalışmalarına dahil etmenin, "önleyici ortaklık" oluşturmanın pekçok avantajı bulunmaktadır. Bu makalede cinsel istismarı önlemede hemşirenin rolleri/sorumlulukları, önleme programları ve aile odaklı önleme stratejileri tartışılmıştır.

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a prevalent and serious problem affecting both girls and boys, regardless of their socio-economic class, ethnic background or geographical location. There are prevention programs projected with the objective to prevent CSA. Such programs are first implemented in United States and Canada in 1980s. Incorporation of parents into the prevention programs and thus creating a "prevention- partnership" is highly advantageous. This article discusses the roles/responsibilities of the nurse in CSA prevention, prevention programs and parent focused prevention strategies.
