Sistemler yaklaşımı pek çok aile psikolojisi ve terapisi uzmanlığının temelinde yer almaktadır. Bu yazıda, genel sistem kuramı çerçevesinde aile sisteminin özelliklerinin ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla, ilk olarak genel sistem kuramı kısaca tanıtıldıktan sonra, bu kuramın ailenin bir sistem olarak değerlendirilmesine olanak veren bütünlük, hiyerarşik yapı, uyuma yönelik kendini istikrarını sürdürme, uyuma yönelik kendini organize edebilme ve döngüsellik prensipleri, aile bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra ise bu kapsamda açık ve kapalı sistemler, sınırlar, alt sistemler, üçgenler ve koalisyon kavramlarından bahsedilip, geribildirim ve iletişim konuları genel sistem kuramı ışığında tanıtılmıştır. Son olarak, sistem yaklaşımı çerçevesinde, aileye yönelik müdahalelere yönelik olarak, müdahale ilkelerine ve önerilere yer verilmiştir.

Systems approach is at the core of many family psychology and therapy specializations. In this article, it is aimed to discuss the characteristics of the family system within the framework of general system theory. For this purpose, after the general system theory has been briefly introduced, the principles of systems theory, wholeness, hierarchical structures, adaptive self-stabilization, adaptive self-organization, circularity, that allow to be regarded as a system of the family will be discussed in the context of the family. Later on, in the light of the general systems theory, the concepts of open and closed systems, boundaries, subsystems, triangles and coalitions will be discussed and feedback and communication topics will be introduced. Finally, within the framework of the system approach, implications and intervention principles have been included for use in family interventions.
