Bu yazıda eşcinsel yönelimli bireylerle yapıla­cak psikoterapiye ilişkin kuramsal, tutumsal, verisel, etik ve yöntemsel hususlar konunun tarihsel, sosyolojik ve bireysel (örneğin psiko-dinamik) yönleri vurgulanarak gözden geçiril­miştir. Bu yapılırken alandaki tutum ve anla­yışlarda zaman içinde gözlenen gelişmeler tar­tışılmış ve bireyin yaftalanmışlık ve kendin­den utanışla başa çıkarak otantik kendiliğini bütünleştirmesine dayalı bir terapi modeli kurultulanmıştır.

In this paper, various theoretical, attitudinal, ethical and technical issues in psychotherapy with homosexual individuals are reviewed with an emphasis on the historical, sociologi­cal and individual (e.g., psychodynamic) as­pects of this endeavor. The historical advan­ces in the understanding of and attitudes to­ward therapeutic work with homosexual indi­viduals are discussed, and in reference to the comtemporary understanding of the issue, a therapeutic approach that emphasizes indivi­dual's achievement of a cohesively integrated self through management of stigma and sha­me is constructed.
