Gerekçe: Toplumda ırza geçme olgusuna İlişkin yaygın olarak benimsenen bazı yanlış inanışlar, bi­reyler ve sosyal kurumlar üzerinde olumsuz etki göstermekte, bu yanlış inanışların varlığı, mağdur­ların tedavilerini, hukuki işlemlerini, sosyal ve ruh­sal durumlarım etkilemektedir. Çalışmamızda adli sistem İçinde yer alan meslek grupları ile ruh sağlı­ğı ile İlgili meslek gruplarının bu yanlış İnanışlara ne oranda katıldıklarını ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Polis, hakim - savcı, stajyer hakim - sava, avukat, psikolog, psikiyatrist ve adil tıp uzmanı ol­mak üzere toplam 565 kişiden oluşan araştırma grubuna, sosyo-demograflk özellikleri ile meslekteki süre ve karşılaştıkları ırza geçme olgu sayılarının yer aldığı 9 sorunun yam sıra, ırza geçme mağduru ve saldırganına yönelik yaklaşım ve düşünceleri belir­lemek amacıyla hazırlanmış, 33 sorudan oluşan an­ket formu uygulanmıştır.
Sonuçlar: Çalışma sonucunda, ırza geçme mağdur ile kadın cinselliğine yönelik yanlış İnanışlara katı­lımda meslek grupları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıklar bulunmuştur. Irza geçme de etki­li olan motivasyonlar hakkındaki tutumları değer­lendirdiğimizde ise tüm mesleklerin büyük bir ora­nının birincil motivasyon olarak cinselliği kabul et­tiklerini ve saldırganı normal olarak değerlendirme­dikleri ancak akıl hastası olarak da kabul etmedik­lerini görüyoruz.
Değerlendirme: Araştırma sonuçlan cinsel saldırı ile İlgilenen meslek gruplarına yönelik hizmet için eğitimin gerekliliğini ortaya koymaktadır.

Objective: Numerous investigations on these false beliefs about rape show that the baised misconcep­tions do also affect the approach of authorities de­aling with the crime of rape. And this exerts negati­ve effects on victims of rape by having no medical social and psychogical aid. In the present study, we also make an attempt to investigate the effects of such misconceptions on the authorities. Method: Total sample of 565 participants is chosen randomly from the following professions; police offi­cers, prosecutors, judges, attorneys, psychologists, psychiatrists and specialists of forensic medicine. A questionnaire containing demographic data such as age, sex, [year]s in profession and number of rape ca­ses which they met and also 33 statements on the subject of rape (e.g., nice women do not get raped). The statements have two logical categories dealing with the victim and the rapist. Results: Striking differences were observed with re­gard to misconceptions of female sexuality, victim of rape and assailant among different professions. Most of the participants regard sexual motivation as the primary precipitating factor and most of them regard rape as sexual crime committed by abnormal men but this abnormality does not mean mental sickness. Discussion: Results have shown that it is a neces­sity to perform post-graduate education about rape towards professionals concerning with rape.
