Asperger Bozukluğu'nun temel özelliği, toplumsal etkileşimlerde şiddetli derecede ve kalıcı bozulmaların olması, kişinin gerek ilgi ve etkinliklerinin gerekse davranışlarının sınırlı bir gelişim göstermesi ve tekrarlayıcı örüntüye sahip olmasıdır. Farmakoterapi ile çocuk ve adolesanlarda otizm ve otistik spektrum hastalıkların bazı belirtilerinin yok edildiği bilinmektedir. Bu amaçla tedavide en sık kullanılan ilaçlar nöroleptiklerdir. Risperidon, güçlü serotonin ve dopamin antogonisti olan atipik bir antipisikotiktir ve çocuk ve adolesanlarda da psikoz tedavilerinde kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu yazıda Asperger Bozukluğu tanısı koyduğumuz dört olguda risperidonun etkinliğini tartışmak istiyoruz. Risperidon tedavisi sonrasıda olguları hepsinde sosyal uyumda belirgin artış gözlenmiştir. Aşırı hareketlilik, sinirlilik, irritabilite, gibi spesifik olmayan belirtiler yanında iletişim güçlüğü ve yaşıtlarıyla birlikte olamama gibi Asperger Bozukluğuna spesifik belirtilerde de önemli ölçüde iyileşme ortaya çıkmıştır.

The main characteristic of Asperger's Disorder is severe and sustained impairment in social interaction as well as development of restricted, repetetive patterns of behaviour, interests and activities. Pharmacotherapy helps to alleviate some symptoms and signs of autism and autistic spectrum disorders. Neuroleptics are the frequently used drugs for this purpose. Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic with strong serotonine and dopamine antagonistic characteristics which has been used for children and adolescents recently. In this article we discuss the efficacy of risperidone in four cases of Asperger's Disorder. Social adaptation increased remarkably after treatment with risperidone. Specific signs of Asperger's Disorder such as communication problems and failure to develop peer relationships appropriate to the developmental level were remedied as well as nonspecific signs such as irritability,nervousness and hyperactivity.
