Frajil X sendromu zeka geriliği sendromları içinde özellikle eşlik eden, dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB) belirtileri ve otistik bulgular ile çocuk ve ergen psikiyatrisinde genetikdavranış ilişkileri bakımından dikkat çeken bir bozukluktur. Bozukluğu gösteren çocukların tedavisinde daha çok eğitsel yöntemlere ağırlık verilmişse de hiperaktivite ve otistik belirtilerin ilaç tedavisi ile ele alınması önemli olabilir. Sunduğumuz olgulara hiperaktivite belirtileri için metilfenidat uygulanmış ve her iki hastanın belirtilerinde belirgin düzelmeler olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu nedenle metilfenidat tedavisinin Frajil X sendromu olgularında tercih edilmesi düşünülmelidir.

Attention Deficit -Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Symptoms Fragile X syndrome is an intriguing syndrome of mental retardation with accompanying attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autistic features, and can be viewed as a model that bridges genetics with behavior. Although it has been argued that educational therapies are the main interventions in these children, the accompanying ADHD and autistic features sometimes necessitate pharmacotherapy. The cases presented here both had fragile X syndrome and their ADHD symptoms responded well to methylphenidate treatment. It is therefore recommended to use methylphenidate as an adjunctive treatment in fragile X syndrome.
