Bu çalışma DSM III R ' e göre hazırlanmış, yapılandırılmış klinik görüşme ölçeği ( SCID ) kullanılarak Bakırköy Ruh ve Sinir Hastalıkları Hastanesi kronik servislerinde yatan şizofreni " kronik seyirli " tanısı konmuş 60 hasta ve aynı hastanenin akut servislerinde yatan şizofreni "akut alevlenme" tanısı konmuş 85 hastaya Modifiye Rogers Ölçeği, Negatif Bulguları Değerlendirme Ölçeği ve Pozitif Bulguları Değerlendirme Ölçeği uygulanmış ve şizofrenide görülen katatoninin negatif ve pozitif belirtilerinin , şizofrenideki negatif ve pozitif belirtiler ile ilişkileri ve bu belirtilerin uzun süre hastanede yatma ile olan ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Akut alevlenme tanısı konan şizofren hastalarda, negatif katatoni ile duygulanımsal düzleşme, aloji ve negatif bulgular toplam skorları arasında bir bağıntı bulunmuştur. Kronik şizofreni tanısı konan hastalarda ise, negatif katatoni ile duygulanımsal düzleşme, apati, anhedoni ve negatif bulgular toplam skorları arasında bir bağıntı olduğu saptanmıştır. Akut alevlenme nedeni hastanede yatan hastalarda, sanrılar ve garip davranış belirgin olarak yüksek bulunurken, uzun süredir hastanede yatan hastalarda; pozitif katatoni, negatif katatoni, toplam katatoni, duygulanımsal düzleşme, aloji ve negatif bulgular toplam skorları belirgin olarak yüksek bulunmuştur.

This study was planned to investigate the relationships between the negative and positive symptoms of schizophrenia and the negative and the positive symptoms of catatonia seen in schizophrenic psychoses. Also the effect of chronic hospitalization on positive and negative symptoms of catatonia was examined. 60 chronic schizophrenic patients who are hospitalised in Bakirköy State Hospital and 85 acute schizophrenic patients from the same hospital diagnosed by DSM-III-R criteria were assessed by Modified Rogers Scale, Scale for The Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS) and Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms (SAPS).The results showed that negative catatonia and flat affect were significantly positively correlated and there was also significantly positive correlation between negative catatonia, alogia and total SANS scores for the chronic schizophrenic patient negative catatonia and flat affect, apathy, anhedonia, total SANS scores were significantly positive correlated. Hallucinations and disorganised behaviour were found to be significantly high for the acute schizophrenic patients whereas for the chronic schizophrenic patients positive catatonia, negative catatonia, total catatonia, flat affect, alogia and total SANS scores were found to be significantly high.
