Klasik antipsikotik ilaçların %90'lara varan yan etkileri nedeniyle yeni nesil an-tipsikotik ilaçlarda yüksek nöroleptik etkinlik yanısıra düşük oranda ekstrapiramidal yan etki üzerinde de durulmaktadır. Melperonun atipik bir nöroleptik olduğunu ileri süren çalışmalar vardır. Bu çalışmada melperonun etkinliğinin haloperidol ile karşı­laştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada akut ve alevli epizot şizofreni tanısı alan 18 ol­guya haloperidol (15 mg/gün) ve 20 olguya melperon ( 375 mg/gün) 42 gün süresin­ce çift kör verilerek ilaçların etkinlikleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak BPRS, SAPS, SANS ve CGI ölçekleri kullanılmıştır. Her iki grupta da tedavi sonunda BPRS, SAPS ve CGI skalalarında anlamlı düşüşler saptanmıştır (p<0.001). Gruplar ara­sı anlamlı fark yoktur.

Because of nearly 90 percent of adverse effect rate of classical neuroleptic drugs, in new group antipsychotic drugs, low rate extrapyramidal side effects are indicated besides high rate neuroleptic efficiency. There are some studies suggesting that mel­peron is an atypical neuroleptic drug. In this study, it was aimed to compare the effi­cacy of melperone and haloperidol. Among the patients received acute and exacer­bated schizophrenia diagnose 18 patients were given haloperidol (15 mg/gün) and 20 patients were given melperone (375 mg/gün) within 42 days. The efficacy of drugs were evaluated with BPRS, SAPS, SANS, CGI. In both groups statistically important decrease has been determined with parameters of BPRS; SAPS and CGI at the end of the study (p<0.001), and there were no significant difference between both groups.
