Bu çalışmada selektif serotonin reuptake inhibitörü (SSRI) olan fluoksetinin fareler­de anksiyete üzerine etkileri, yükseltilmiş artı labirent yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Akut olarak intraperitoneal yolla verilen fluoksetin (20 mg/kg) farelerin açık kollarda geçir­dikleri süreyi kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı olarak azaltmıştır (p<0.05). Yedi gün sürey­le fluoksetin (10 mg/kg/gün) verilen grupta herhangi bir etki saptanmamış. İki hafta sü­reyle fluoksetin (10mg/kg) verilen grupta farelerin açık kollarda geçirdikleri süre kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı olarak artmıştır (p<0.05). Akut fluoksetin (20 mg/kg) verilen grup­ta farelerin kapalı kollara girme sayısı anlamlı olarak azalmıştır (p<0.05). Bu bulgular fluoksetinin akut uygulandığında anksiyojenik etki, kronik uygulandığında ise anksi-yolitik etki oluşturduğunu göstermekted

We have studied the effects of fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, on anxiety by using elevated plus maze test in mice. Acute intraperitoneal administ­ration of fluoxetine (20 mg/kg) decreased the time spent in the open arms (p<0.05). After daily fluoxetine (10 mg/kg/day) treatment for 14 days but not 7 days, the time spent in the open arms increased according to the control group (p<0.05). Acute fluoxetine (20 mg/kg) significantly decreased the number of entire into enclosed arms (p<0"05). These results suggest that, fluoxetine has produced anxiogenic effect when administered acutely, by contrast has produced anxiolytic effect when adminstreted chronically.
