Vasküler demans tanısı alan hastaların serebral lezyonlar yönünden heterojen bir grup oluşturduğt vasküler demans araştırmamızda incelenen ve vasküler demans tanısı düşünülen 5 olgunun klinik ve radyolojik verileri tartışılmıştır. Olgularımızdan 3'ü majör bir strok geçirdikten sonra, 2'si ise sadece kronik zeminde risk faktörlerinin etkisiyle demans bulguları göstermiştir. Majör strok geçirenlerde tek-stratejik lezyonlar, sadece risk faktörlerinin etkisinde olanlarda ise bilateral subkortikal aterosklerotik lezyonlar gösterilmiştir. Hastaların mental durumları tarafımızdan standardize edilmiş Mental Durum Testleri'yle incelenmiş ve test sonuçları muhtemel ve mümkün demans kriterlerine uyum sağlamıştır.

It is usually accepted that patients with a diagnosis of vascular dementia are a heterogenous grc
cases with a diagnosis of vascular dementia are discussed. These patients are in a larger
group of patients that are being assessed in our continuing progressive vascular dementia
study.
In there of our patients, dementia symptoms became manifest after a major stroke, while in two
of them, the symptoms started due to risk factors in the back ground. Solitary strategic lesions
were shown in patients with major stroke, and bilateral subcortical athersosclerotic lesions
were shown in patients with risk factor in a chronic background. The mental status of the
patients were assessed with the standardized Mental Status Tests and the test results were in
accordance with probable and possible dementia criteria.
