Koruyucu ruh sağlığı yaklaşımı, ruhsal hastalığın başlama önlemeyi ya da geciktirmeyi, hastalığın süresini kısaltmayı ve ruhsal hastalığa bağlı yeti yitimini azaltmayı amaçlar. Koruyucu ruh sağlığı hizmetlerinin temelinde, hastalığa ait risk faktörlerinin azaltılması ve uygun şartların geliştirmesi gerektiği düşüncesi yatmaktadır. Bebek ruh sağlığı koruyucu yaklaşımda ise bebeklik ya da erken çocukluk döneminde psikososyal gelişim basamakları ya da psikiyatrik yapılanma açısından yolunda gitmeyen durumları tespit etmek, olası riskleri saptamak ve koruyucu faktörleri hayata geçirmek koruyucu ruh sağlığının temellerini oluşturmaktadır. Bebek ruh sağlığını güçlendirmeye yönelik çalışmalar son yıllarda artmaktadır (ör. Healthy Steps, Bright Future, Touchpoints, vb.). Bu yazıda bebek ruh sağlığı koruyucu programları ve uygulanması önerilen yaklaşımlar incelenmiştir.

In the preventive mental health approach, it is aimed to prevent or to delay the onset of mental illness, to shorten the duration of symptoms and to decrease the functional impairment related to the disorder. The basic idea underlying the prevention services includes the necessity of a decrease in risk factor load and improvement of the appropriate conditions. The preventive approach in the infancy and toddlerhood involves the assessment of psychosocial developmental milestones, determining the problematic areas in terms of psychiatric structuring, holding down the risk factors and establishment of the preventive measures. The efforts to improve infant mental health are increased in recent years (e.g., Healthy Steps, Bright Future, Touchpoints, etc.). In the article, we reviewed the infant mental health prevention programs and their recommended approaches.
