Bu çalışmada, sağlıklı kontrollerde, psikosomatik bir hastalık olarak bilinen peptik ülserlilerde ve peptik ülserle birlikte başka hastalığı olanlarda, Toronto Aleksitimi Ölçeği ile ölçülebilen dört özellik (duygularla bedensel duyumları tanıyıp ayırdedebilme, duyguları tanımlayabilme, düş kurma, dış olaylara yönelik düşünme) incelenmiştir. Hasta gruplarında birinci özellikle ilgili puanlar yüksek bulunmuştur. Üçüncü grupta ikinci özellikle ilgili puanlar da yüksektir. Sosyoekonomik düzeyin söz konusu özellikler üzerinde etkisinin olmadığı, öğrenim düzeyinin ise etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Düş kurma özelliğiyle ilgili puanlarda genel bir yükseklik dikkati çekmektedir.

In this study, three groups of subjects were compared regarding four factors which can be measured by Toronto Alexithymia Scale. The subject groups were: 1) control group consisting of healthy persons, 2) patients with peptic ulcer, 3) patients with peptic ulcer and any other disease(s). Four factors measured by the alexithymia scale were the ability to identify and distinguish feelings and bodily sensations, the ability to describe feelings, daydreaming, externally oriented thinking. In patient groups, the scores related to Factor 1 were found to be high. The scores related to Factor 2 were also high in the third group. It was determined that socioeconomic conditions had no effect on these factors but education had. It is notable that the scores related to daydreaming were high in general
