Bu çalışmada, panik bozukluklarının gelişim öyküsü ve klinik seyrine ilişkin çeşitli özellikler, panik atakları agorafobi ilişkisi ve agorafobinin gelişiminde rol oynayan etkenler araştırılmıştır. DSM-III-R tanı ölçütlerine göre Panik Bozukluğu tanısı olan 57 olgu, agorafobisiz, sınırlı agorafobili ve ileri derecede agorafobili olmak üzere üç alt gruba ayrılarak, demografik ve klinik özelliklere ait çeşitli değişkenler açısından karşılaştırılmış, bulgular çeşitli yayınlarda bildirilen sonuçların ışığında tartışılmıştır.

In the present study the developmental history and the clinical course of panic disorders, the relationship between panic attacks and agoraphobia and the factors associated with the development of agoraphobia are examined. Fifty-seven patients who were diagnosed as having panic disorders according to DSM-III-R were divided into three groups: patients without agoraphobia, patients with limited agoraphobia and patients with extensive agoraphobia. The groups were compared by using the variables related to the demographic and clinical features. The findings were discussed in the view of literature
