Bu çalışmada Toronto Aleksitimi Ölçeği (TAÖ) ile Courtauld Duygu Kontrol Ölçeğinin (CDKÖ) bir üniversite örnekleminde güvenirlik ve birlikte geçerlikleri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla her iki ölçeğin test-tekrar test güvenirlik katsayıları ile Cronbach Alfa katsayıları hesaplanmış ve iki test arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Bulgular TAÖ’nin güvenilir bir ölçek olduğunu, CDKÖ’nin bireyin içinde bulunduğu duygudurumundan kolayca etkilenebileceğini, ancak ölçtüğü özelliklerle ilgili iç tutarlılığın yüksek olduğunu düşündürmektedir. Her iki testin birlikte geçerliklerinin olmaması aleksitimiklerde nevrotik savunma mekanizmalarından farklı savunmaların kullanıldığı yönündeki bilgileri destekler niteliktedir.

The realibilities as well as the convergent validity of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS) and Courtauld Emotional Control Scale (CECS) have been investigated in a university population, in this study. The test-retest reliability coefficient and Cronbach Alpha coefficient have been estimated and the correlation of the two tests has been studied with this purpose. Findings demonstrate that TAS is a reliable scale; whereas CECS possesses a high internal consistency regarding the features it evaluates but its scores are easily influenced by the mood of the individual. The fact that the scales don’t have convergent validity, supports previous conceptions regarding defense mechanisms other than neurotic ones are employed in alexithymia.
