Geniş tarama araştırmalarında uzman bilgisine gerek duyulmadan kısa sürede uygulanabilecek, Türk kültürüne özgü bir bebek/çocuk gelişim envanteri geliştirilmiştir. Üç sosyoekonomik düzeyden (SED) seçilen örneklemde bu envanter uygulanmış ve elde edilen veriler üzerinde çeşitli istatistiksel analizler yapılmıştır. Envanterle ilgili analizler sonucunda yaş ve SED etkisinin anlamlı olduğu, gözlenmiştir. Bulgular yaş ilerledikçe gelişimsel puanlarda anlamlı bir artış olduğunu göstermektedir. SED ile ilgili farklar ise özellikle 4 yaştan sonra daha belirgin olmaktadır. Kız-erkek farklılıkları gözlenmemiştir. Envanterin psikometrik özellikleri açısından incelenmesi, üç ayrı yaş grubunda hesaplanan test-tekrar test güvenirliklerinin çok yüksek, Cronbach alfa katsayısıyla hesaplanan iç tutarlığın ilk iki yaş grubunda yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir.

A culturally appropriate developmental inventory that would be useful in large scale surveys was constructed. The inventory was completed by the mothers and did not require expert observation of the infant/child. Various statistical analyses were computed on the data, derived from three socioeconomic status groups (SES). Results indicate that there were significant age and SES differences. As children grew older, their developmental scores on the inventory also increased. Significant SES differences were observed especially after the age of 4 [year]s. There were no significant sex differences. Two kinds of reliability were calculated for three different age groups. The test-retest reliabilities for the three age groups were very high and the internal consistency calculated by Cronbach alpha coefficients were high in the first two age groups.
