Çocuk istismarı farklı sektörlerin farklı aşamalarda müdahalesini gerektiren küresel bir sorundur. Çocuğa yönelik istismara ilişkin risk faktörlerinin belirlenmesi, çocuğa ve aileye yönelik koruyucu ve önleyici çalışmalar, istismara uğrama riski olan ya da istismara uğrayan çocuğun korunması ve iyileştirilmesinde, istismarın yasal sürecinde diğer sektörlerde olduğu gibi sosyal hizmetlerin de sorumlulukları vardır. İstismara uğrayan çocuklar sosyal hizmet mesleğinin çocuk ve aile refahı alanı kapsamındadır. Çocuk istismarı sorunu genelci sosyal hizmet yaklaşımı ve bütüncül bakış açısıyla ele alınır. Soruna mikro, mezzo ve makro düzeyde müdahale edilir. Bu sadece, sorun üzerinde odaklanmayı değil, çocuğun etkileşim içerisinde olduğu bütün sistemleri ve sistemler arasındaki ilişkileri ele almayı gerektirir. Sosyal hizmet uzmanları aktif olarak çocuk koruma sisteminde ve çok disiplinli ekipler içerisinde çocuk istismarı olgularıyla çalışırlar. Bu çalışmada sosyal hizmet mesleğinin yaklaşımları ve yöntemlerine ilişkin kısa bir giriş yapılmış ve çocuk istismarına yönelik mikro, mezzo ve makro düzeydeki sosyal hizmet müdahaleleri aktarılmıştır.

Child abuse is a global issue for which various professions are required to be involved in different stages of interventions. Social services along with other professional services, have responsibilities for preventing and identifying risk factors related to child abuse, protecting families and children from the effects of child abuse, and taking legal action against identified child abuse and neglect. Abused and neglected children's needs are within the "children and families wellbeing" scope of social work. The issue of child abuse can be managed through generalized social work perspective and a holistic approach. Through this approach, a case can be analysed and intervened in micro, mezzo, and macro levels. This approach requires, not only focusing on the problem itself, but also focusing on every system and interactions of systems that the child is engaged and surrounded with. Social workers have an active role within the child protection mechanisms as a member of multidisiciplinary teams and they work with child abuse cases. In this article, perspectives and approaches used in social work profession will be described briefly and implementations of holistic social work perspective on micro, mezzo and macro levels of child abuse will be discussed.
