Depresyonda plazma ksantin oksidaz, glutatyon peroksidaz aktiviteleri ve plazma nitrik oksit seviyesi üzerine egzersizin etkisi

Amaç: Depresyonlu olgularda egzersiz sonrası plazma glutatiyon peroksidaz (GSH-Px) ve ksantin oksidaz (XO)
aktiviteleri ile plazma NO seviyesinde olan değişikliklerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Genel Sağlık
Anketi (GSA), Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ), Spielberg Durumluk-Sürekli Kaygı Envanteri (SDSKE) ve Hamilton
Depresyon Derecelendirme Ölçeğinin (HDDÖ) uygulanmasını takiben bir psikiyatri uzmanı tarafından
yapılan psikiyatrik görüşme ile gönüllü sekiz sağlıklı ve sekiz depresyonludan oluşan gruplar belirlendi. Kontrol
ve depresyon gruplarında yaş ortalamaları sırasıyla 20.75±1.04 ve 20.25±1.67 yıldı. Her iki gruba haftada üç
gün 20-25 dakika devam eden dokuz hafta süren egzersiz program uygulandı. Dokuz haftalık egzersiz programı
öncesi ve sonrası açlık kan örnekleri alındı ve plazma ayrıldı. Plazma glutatyon peroksidaz (GSH-Px), ksantin
oksidaz (XO) aktiviteleri ve plazma nitrik oksit (NO) düzeyi tespit edildi. Bulgular: Plazma GSH-Px aktivitesi ve
NO seviyesi her iki grupta da egzersiz sonrası değişiklik göstermedi. Kontrol grubu XO aktivitesinde egzersiz
sonrası bir azalma tespit edildi. Depresyon grubu XO aktivitesi egzersiz sonrası anlamlı artış gösterdi. Depresyon
grubu XO aktivitesi egzersiz sonrası kontrole göre anlamlı olarak yüksek bulundu. Depresyon grubunda
egzersiz sonrası XO aktivitesi ile GSH-Px aktivitesi arasında pozitif korelasyon vardı. Tartışma: Düzenli
egzersizin bir antioksidan gibi işlev görerek depresyonun tedavisinde katkıda bulunduğu düşünülmektedir.
Effects of exercise on plasma activities of xanthine oxidase and glutathion peroxidase, and on levels of plasma nitric oxide in depression
Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess differences of plasma glutathion peroxidase (GSH-Px) and
xanthine oxidase (XO) activities and plasma nitric oxide (NO) levels in depressive patients after exercise.
Method: Eight healthy and eight depressive cases volunteered to complete the General Health Questionnaire
(GHQ), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Spielberg State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Hamilton
Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). The psychiatric evaluation was done by a psychiatrist. The mean ages of
control and depression groups were 20.75±1.04 and 20.25±1.67 [year]s, respectively. Subjects of both groups
participated in a three-day-per-week 20-25 min. exercise program during nine weeks. Before and after nine-week exercise program, fasting blood samples were obtained and plasma was separated. Activities of plasma
glutathion peroxidase (GSH-Px) and xanthine oxidase (XO), plasma levels of nitric oxide (NO) were studied.
Results: Plasma GSH-Px activity and NO level did not show any significant difference in both groups after
exercise. A significant decrease was determined on XO activity of control group. XO activity of the depression
group showed significant increase. XO activity of the depression group was found significantly higher than
control group after exercise. There was a positive correlation between activities of XO and GSH-Px in
depression group after exercise. Conclusion: It is thought that regular exercise assists in the treatment of
depression as an antioxidant.
