Bu çalışma Şizofrenik hastalarda bilgi-işleme ve dikkate ilişkin bozuklukları olaya ilişkin potansiyellerden P300 (P3) ile araştırmayı hedeflemiştir. Şizofrenide işitsel-P300 anormalliği olduğu birçok araştırmanın ortak bulgusudur. Çalışmada 30 şizofren ve 30 sağlıklı denek ele alınmıştır. Deneklerde “şaşırtmalı uyaran dizisi” uygulanarak hedef uyaranla işitsel-P300 yanıtları ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Şizofrenik deneklere ayrıca Pozitif ve Negatif Belirtileri Değerlendirme Ölçeği (SAPS ve SANS) uygulanmıştır. Şizofrenik deneklerde ilaç kullanımından bağımsız olarak P3 amplitütünde düşme, P3 latansında uzama bulunmuştur. P3 amplitüdü düşüklüğü negatif belirtileri baskın olan şizofrenik deneklerde belirgindir. Bu bulgular literatürdeki sonuçlar temelinde tartışılmıştır.

In this study, we aimed to investigate information-processing and attentional disturbances in schizophrenic patients by the help of event-related potentials. Here we used the evaluation of P300 wave. Abnormalities in the auditory P300 event-related potential are one of the most robust findings in schizophrenia. We studied 30 schizophrenic and 30 healthy subjects. Auditory P300 oddball paradigm was used to elicit P300 responses to target stimuli. Scales for the Assessment of Positive and Negative Symptoms (SAPS and SANS) were applied to these psychotic subjects. We found attenuated P3 amplitude and delayed P3 latency in schizophrenic patients. Attenuation of P3 amplitude was marked in the psychotic subjects whose negative symptoms were dominant. These findings are discussed with literature results.
