Ülkemizde bilimsel yayınlarda, özellikle hekimlikde, anlaşılmazlığa sığınma ve yabancı terim kullanma eğilimi oldukça sık görülmektedir. Bu eğilimin nedenleri arasında iki temel ruhbilimsel etken bu yazıda incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Yazılarda anlaşılmazlığa sağınma ve yabancı terim düşkünlüğünün altında yatan iki önemli etken şunlardır: 1. Büyüsel düşünceye yaslanma eğiliminin yaygın olması. 2. Çocukta doğal olarak varolan bilme-öğrenme tutkusunun (tecessüs) baskılanması ve özerk, özgür düşünme yetsinin gelişmesinin engellenmesi. Her iki etken bilim adamında yaygın güvensizlik ve yetersizlik duygusuna yol açmaktadır. Bu nedenlerle bilim adamı öğrendiklerini bir güven duygusu ile kendi özgür ve özerk düşünce süzgecinden geçirmekte ve bunları kendi öz diline yeterince aktarmakta güçlük çekmektedir.

Tendency to resort to obscurity and to use foreign terminology in scientific publications, especially in medicine, is quite common in our country. In this article two psychological factors have been explored among the causes of this tendency. The two important factors underlying the tendency toward obscure writing and to use foreign terminology are as follows: 1. Widespread tendency to lean on magical thinking, and 2. Suppression of the child’s natural faculty of curiosity and prevention of the development of the child’s capacity for autonomous and free thinking. These two factors lead to diffuse sense of insecurity and inadequacy in scientists. Therefore the scientist has difficulty in depending confidently on his autonomous, free and critical thinking to be able to transfer his knowledge adequately to his own authentic [language].
