İlaç endüstrisindeki tüm gelişmelere karşın, bu alanda çocuk ve ergenlerle yapılan ilaç etkinliği ve güvenirliği ile ilgili çalışmalar maalesef yetersizdir. Her ne kadar kontrollü çalışmalar az sayıda olsa da, bu yaş gruplarında psikotrop ilaç kullanımının gün geçtikçe yaygınlaştığı tüm dünyada yapılan çalışmalarla da bildirilmiştir. Bu gözden geçirme yazısında çocuk ve ergenlerde psikotrop ilaç kullanımının genel ilkeleri ve erişkinlerden farklılıkları sunulmaktadır.

In spite of all development in pharmaceutical industry, unfortunately studies on the efficacy and safety of the drugs for the children and adolescents are limited in this area. Although there are few controlled studies, it has been known that the use of pyschotropic drugs in these age groups become increasingly more common in the world. In this review, general principles of psychotropic drug use in children and adolescents and the differences from the use in adults is presented.
