İmmünsupresif tedavi protokollerinin başarıyla kullanılmasıyla, organ transplantasyonu prosedürleri genişlemiştir. Transplantasyon uygulanan çocuk ve ergenlerde psikiyatrik değerlendirmenin amacı, transplantasyon sürecinde alıcı ve vericide gözlenebilecek psikiyatrik durumlara uygun müdahele stratejileri geliştirmek kadar transplantasyon ekibinin kendi içinde ve hastayla olan ilişkilerindeki problemlerde psikososyal destek sağlamaktır. Sosyal hizmet uzmanı, klinik psikolog ve hemşireden oluşan bir ekip tarafından hasta ve ailesinin motivasyonu, bilgilendirilmesi ve gereksinimlerine uygun destek verilmesi çok önemlidir. Psikiyatrik değerlendirme transplantasyon öncesi, transplantasyon sırası ve transplantasyon sonrası olmak üzere üç kısıma ayrılabilir. Temel hedefler, transplantasyon öncesi dönemde nakledilen organın korunmasına ilişkin risk faktörü olabilecek durumları belirlemek, vericilerin transplantasyon işlemi ile ilgili beklentilerini ve transplantasyon sonrası alıcı-verici ilişkisinin zedeleneceğine işaret eden etkenlerin gözden geçirilmesidir. Klinisyenler organ nakli yapılmasına karar verilen hasta ve yakınlarında anksiyete bozuklukları açısından uyanık olmalıdır. Transplantasyon sonrası dönemde prognozu etkileyen en önemli faktör medikal tedaviye uyumdur. Çocuk ya da ergenin mümkün olan en kısa sürede okul yaşamına dönmesi psikiyatrik bir bozukluk gelişiminden koruyucu bir faktördür.

Using immunsupressive treatment protocols with great efficiency, organ transplantation prodecures have been widened. The aim of psychiatrist evaluation of transplanted children and adolescents is to develop appropriate strategies targeting psychiatric issues that occur in both donor and host during transplantation process, as well as to provide psyhciatric for problems that can emerge among transplantation team, and their relations with patients. Motivation of the patients and their families and giving information, supporting them through their needs by a team consisting of social service expert, clinic psychologist and a nurse is very important. Psychiatric evaluation can be divided into three parts; pre-transplantation, during-transplantation and post-transplantation periods. Main targets are to determine the issues that can be risk factors with regards to protection of the transplantation organ in pre-transplantation period, to detect donor?s expectations about transplantation process, and to investigate the factors that indicate deterioration of the relationship between donor and host after transplantation. The clinicians must be aware of anxiety disorders that can emerge in patients who are decided to undergo transplantation and their parents. The most influencial factor on prognosis in post-transplantation period is compliance to the medical treatment.The return of the child or adolescant bact to the school as soon as possible is a crucial factor to prevent occurense of psychiatric comorbidity.
