Cilt, kişinin dış çevre ile bağlantısını sağlayan, sosyal, psikolojik ve biyolojik işlevlere sahip vücudun en geniş organıdır. Cilt hastalarının üçte birinde psikolojik stres, psikiyatrik ya da psikososyal morbidite, hastalığın başlangıcı ya da alevlenmesinde etkili bulunur. Psikiyatri ve dermatoloji kliniklerinin işbirliğini gerektiren psikodermatolojik hastalıklar, geniş bir hasta çeşitliliğine sahiptir. Bu alanda çalışan uzmanların psikiyatrik ve dermatolojik açıdan üst üste binen durumlara karşı uyanık olması gerekir. Öte yandan hastalıkların tedavisinde dermatolog, psikiyatrist ve psikolog içeren multidisipliner bir liyezonun etkili olacağı önerilir. Buna karşın iki uzmanlık alanının ortak hizmet verdiği klinik sayısı yetersizdir. Ayrıca dermatoloji kliniklerinde değerlendirilen çocuk ve ergenlerin, psikiyatrik değerlendirmelerine ilişkin bilgiler ya da bu yaş grubunda rastlanan psikodermatolojik hastalıkların etyolojisine yönelik bilgiler yetersizdir. Hastalıkların etkin değerlendirilmesi, uygun tedavisi ve ilaç yan etki takibinin sağlanabilmesi için psikodermatoloji kliniklerinin sayısının arttırılması ve bu alanda yapılan çalışmaların genişletilmesi önerilebilir.

Skin is the largest organ, connecting the body and environment, has social, psychological and biological functions. Psychological stress, psychiatric or psychosocial morbidity may act on the beginning or execarbation of skin diseases in one third of the patients. Psychodermatology requires a collaboration of psychiatry and dermatology specialities and has a wide range of diseases. Specialists of these fields should be aware of the overlapping conditions. For an effective treatment, a multidisciplinary liaison including psychiatrists, psychologists and dermatologists is recommended. But the number of clinics providing cooperation of two professions are limited. In addition, the psychiatric evaluations of child and adolescents? data examined in dermatology clinics or etiology of psychodermatologic diseases in this age group are not enlighted enough. For effective evaluation of the diseases, appropriate treatment and the follow up of drug adverse effects, increasing the number of psychodermatology clinics and studies on these diseases could be recommended.
