Marmara bölgesinde yaşanan büyük deprem felaketinden 2-6 ay sonraki dört aylık dönemde, ciddi biçimde örselendikleri belirlenen 10-16 yaş grubunda öğrenciler seçilerek, yarı-yapılandırılmış psikiyatrik görüşme yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Bu yazıda, Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu tanısı konulan 12 olgu sunulmuştur. Olguların tümünde her alanda işlev bozukluğu ve uyarılma belirtilerinin aşırı düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Yazıda, depremi tekrar tekrar yaşama, depremle ilgili sahne, görüntü, ses, koku ve tekrarlayan düşüncelerin 3 ile 5 ay arasında devam ettiği altı olgunun yanısıra; depremi çağrıştıran durumlarda fizyolojik tepkilerin gösterildiği örnekler sunulmuştur. Depremi hatırlatıcılardan psikolojik kaçınma alanında iki depremzede kardeşin öyküsü, travmanın kompulsif biçimde yinelenmesi davranışı- ‘reenactment of trauma’ ile ilgili bir olgu sunulmuş ve tartışılmıştır.

Two to six [month]s after the earthquake in the Marmara region in Turkey in 1999, unstructured psychiatric interviews were conducted with students aged 10-16, who had been exposed to life-threatening situations; and 12 case studies with the diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder are presented here. All subjects demonstrated widespread impairment in almost every area of functioning; hyperarousal symptoms with disturbing, recurrent and intrusive distressing recollections of images and perceptions. Six cases are presented here with dissociative experiences related to sound, smell, vision and motion, lasting 3 to 5 [month]s, in subjects without any previous pathology. The story of two siblings is presented in which avoidance of thoughts and feelings associated with the most dramatic psychic trauma proved to be the main coping mechanism. One case of a new type of repetitive behaviour, termed reenactment of trauma is also presented.
