Behçet hastalarında stresli yaşam olayları ve başa çıkma yöntemleri ile hastalık belirtileri arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılması

Amaç: Behçet hastalarında stres etkenleri ve sorunlarla başa çıkma yöntemleri ile hastalığın fiziksel ve ruhsal belirtileri ile arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılmasıdır.
Gereç ve yöntem: 36 Behçet hastası Sosyodemografik Veri Toplama Formu, Kısa Semptom Tarama Envanteri (KSE), Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ), Beck Anksiyete Ölçeği (BAÖ) ve Spielberger Durumluk/Sürekli Kaygı Ölçeği (STAI I-II) kullanılarak değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Hastalığın akut başladığını belirten hastalarda KSE-depresyon (p<0.05), KSE-psikotizm (p<0.01) ve STAI-II puanları, hastalığın görme sorunlarına neden olduğunu belirtenlerde BDÖ puanları anlamlı olarak daha yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Sağlık sorunlarıyla uğraşmakta zorlananlarda KSE-depresyon, KSE-Rahatsızlık Ciddiyeti İndeksi ve KSE-Semptom Rahatsızlık İndeksi puanları, günlük işlerini yapmakta güçlük çekenlerde BDÖ puanları, sosyal ilişkilerini sürdürmekte güçlük yaşayanlarda ve toplumsal olaylardan etkilenenlerde KSE-anksiyete puanları anlamlı olarak yüksekti (p<0.05). Ekonomik güçlük yaşayanlarda KSE-hostilite (p<0.01), KSE-obsesif-kompulsif (p<0.001), KSE-Rahatsızlık Ciddiyeti İndeksi ve KSE-Semptom Rahatsızlık İndeksi puanları anlamlı düzeyde yüksekti (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Psikososyal sorunlar hem hastalığın ortaya çıkması sürecinde, hem de ortaya çıkardığı ikincil sorunlar aracılığı ile süregenleşme döneminde önemli rol oynuyor gibi görünmektedir.
The Relationships Between Stressful Life Events, Coping Mechanisms and Symptoms in Patients with Behçet’s Disease
Aim: To investigate the relationship between stressful life events, coping mechanisms and physical and psychological symptoms in patients with Behçet’s disease (BD).
Method: Thirty-six BD patients were evaluated with using Sociodemographic Data Collection Form, Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI I-II).
Results: Patients in whom the disease had an acute beginning had significantly higher (p<0.05) scores for BSI-depression, STAI-II (p<0.05), BSI-psychoticism (p<0.01). Ocular Behçet’s patients with visual problems had significantly higher (p<0.05) BDI scores. Significantly higher (p<0.05) scores for BSI-depression, BSI-Severity of Illness Index and BSI-General Severity Index were present in patients with BD who have difficulties in dealing with health problems. BDI scores were significantly higher (p<0.05) in patients who have difficulties in performing their daily activities. Significantly higher (p<0.05) scores for BSI-anxiety were obtained in those patients who have difficulties in performing their social roles. Patients who have economic difficulties had significantly higher scores for BSI-hostility (p<0.01), BSI-obsessive-compulsiveness (p<0.01), BSI-Severity of Illness Index and BSI-General Severity Index (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Stressful life events seem to be important both in the appearing process of the disease and in chronic period by revealing secondary problems.
