Üniversite öğrencilerinde kontrol odağı, cinsiyet ve sınıf değişkenlerinin beden imgesinden hoşnut olma üzerine etkisi

Amaç: Bu araştırmada Üniversite öğrencilerinin bedenlerinden hoşnut olma düzeyleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, iç kontrol odağına inanan deneklerle dış kontrol odağına inanan deneklerin bedenlerinden aldıkları doyum derecelerinde bir farklılık olup olmadığım ve bu doyumun cinsiyete ve sınıfa göre değişip değişmediğini
belirlemek, ayrıca beden imgesi doyumu ile kontrol odağı inancı arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkarmaktır. Yöntem: Hacettepe Üniversitesinin çeşitli bölümlerinden seçkisiz olarak seçilen 329 denek araştırmaya katılmıştır. Araştırmada Beden İmajı Doyumu Ölçeği ve Rotter tç-Dış Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Analizlerde kontrol odağı
değişkeni üzerinde uç grupları oluşturan toplam 136 deneğin beden imgesi doyum puanları alınmıştır. Bulgular: Elde edilen veriler 2x2x2 faktörlü grup desenine uygun varyans analizi ve Pearson korelasyon tekniği yardımıyla analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular, kızların erkeklere oranla bedenlerinden daha az hoşnut olduklarını göstermiştir.
Kontrol odağı ve sınıf değişkenlerinin etkileri anlamlı bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca, araştırmada kullanılan iki ölçeğin puanları arasında -.16'lık anlamlı olmayan bir korelasyon elde edilmiştir. Tartışma: Çalışmanın bulguları ilgili literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.
The effects of locus of control, sex and class variables on body image satisfaction of university students
Objectives: In this study, body image satisfaction of university students were examined. The purpose of the study is to compare subjects' body image satisfaction according to their locus of control beliefs, sex and class variables and to obtain the correlation between body image satisfaction and locus of control variables. Methods: 329 subjects were randomly selected from the departments of Hacettepe University. Berscheid, Walster and Bohrnstedt (1973)'s Body Image Satisfaction Scale and Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale were used in the study. Extreme groups on the dimension of locus of control were obtained and data from these 136 subjects were used for the analysis. Results: A 2x2x2 ANOVA and Pearson correlation techniques were applied to the data. Results showed that girls were less satisfied from their bodies than boys and the main effects of locus of control and class variables were insignificant. There were also an insignificant correlation (-.16) between body satisfaction and locus of control varibles. Conclustions: The results were discussed in the light of the related literatures.
