Amaç: Oral cerrahi girişim yapılan hastalarda anksiyete düzeyini ve tedaviyi etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Yöntem: Oral cerrahi girişim yapılan 45 ardısıra başvuran hasta müdahale öncesi ve sonrasında anket formları ve Spielberger Durumluk ve Sürekli Anksiyete Envanteri kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Hastalarda ameliyat öncesi durumluk anksiyete anlamlı derecede yüksekti. Bununla, sürekli anksiyete düzeyi ve bekleme odasında geçirilen süre arasında ilişki bulundu. Daha önce diş tedavisi konusunda kötü deneyimi olanların durumsal anksiyetesi daha fazla idi. Ameliyat öncesi durumluk anksiyetenin yüksekliğinin ameliyat sırasındaki işbirliğini olumsuz etkilediği görüldü. Ameliyat sonrası izlemede işbirliğini olumsuz etkileyen faktörler ise ameliyat öncesi ve sonrasında yüksek durumluk anksiyete ve ağrı beklentisinin yüksekliği idi. Tartışma: Sonuç olarak hastanın durumluk anksiyetesinin ve ağrı beklentisinin azaltılmasının, bekleme süresinin kısaltılmasının işbirliğini olumlu etkileyeceği düşünüldü.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to define preoperative and postoperative anxiety levels in oral surgery. Method: 45 consecutive patients of third molar surgery were evaluated using two questionnaires and the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Restults: Preoperative state anxiety score of the patients was higher than the postoperative score. Trait anxiety score and duration of the staying in the waiting room were variables which affected the preoperative state anxiety score. Patients with previous negative experiences in dental medicine had higher preoperative state anxiety score. Preoperative state anxiety affected the perioperative cooperation of the patient. Postoperative cooperation was affected by pre- and postoperative state anxiety and expectancy of pain. Conclusion: Measures relieving the anxiety and expectancy of pain and a reasonable duration of staying in the waiting room woud strenghten the cooperation of patients in dental surgery.
