Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, cinsiyetin ve cinsiyetleri-ayrıştırmış olmanın kendi cinsiyetini ve diğer cinsiyeti algılama üzerindeki rolünü belirlemektir. Yöntem: Toplam 270 deneğe (kadın n =132, erkek n =138), kendi cinsiyetine ve diğer cinsiyete ilişkin algılarım belirlemek için iki defa Kişi Algısı Ölçeği (KAÖ) ve cinsiyet rollerini belirlemek için de Bern Cinsiyet Rolleri Envanteri (BCRE) Türkçe formu uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: KAÖ'nin dört alt ölçeğinin verilerine, dört ayrı 2 (kadın-erkek) X 2 (cinsiyetleri-ayrıştırmış - cinsiyetleri-ayrıştırmamış) X 2 (kendi cinsiyeti - diğer cinsiyet) faktörlü son faktör tekrar ölçümlü varyans analizi uygulanmıştır. Bazı ANOVA sonuçlarına göre, kendi cinsiyetlerindekiler diğer cinsiyettekilerden daha olumlu algılanmaktadır. Bu iç-grup yanlılığı kadınlarda daha çok gözlenmektedir. Cinsiyetleri-ayrıştırmış erkekler sosyal ahlak alt ölçeğinde kendi cinsiyetlerindekileri, cinsiyetleri-ayrıştırmış kadınlar ise olumlu sosyal ilişki alt ölçeğinde diğer cinsiyettekileri daha olumlu algılamaktadırlar. Tartışma: Veriler sosyal kimlik kuramı ve toplumsal cinsiyet şema kuramı ve literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.

Obective: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of sex and sex-typing on the perceptions of own-sex and other-sex. Method: To measure the perceptions of own-sex and other-sex, The Person Perception Scale (PPS) was administered to the subjects (female n =132, male n = 138), and to measure their sex roles, Turkish form of the Bern Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) was administered. Results: The data were analyzed using a repeated measures analysis of variance, 2 (male-female) X 2 (sex-typed-nonsex-typed) X 2 (own-sex-other-sex) -the last factor repeated measure. It was found that the subjects perceived their own-sex more favourably than the other-sex, but this ingroup bias was more in females compared to males. There were some differences between sex-typed and nonsex- typed persons in the subscales of PPS. It was found that sex-typed males perceived their own-sex more favourably in social morality subscale, and sex-typed females percieved other-sex more favourably inpositive social relationssubscale. Discussion: These results were discussed in the light of the existing literature especially in terms of social identity theory and gender schema theory.
