Amaç: Bu çalışmada, sosyal fobide, alt tiplerin ve çekingen kişilik bozukluğu (ÇKB) eştanısının, psikopatoloji üzerindeki etkilerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Sosyal fobi hastaları, ilk aşamada, ÇKB ile birlikte sosyal fobi (n=25) ve ÇKB olmaksızın sosyal fobi (n=18) olarak iki gruba ayrıldı, ikinci aşamada, sosyal fobi hastaları, özgül ya da yaygın tipte olmalarına ve ÇKB'nin eşlik edip etmemesine göre, üç gruba ayrıldı; ÇKB olmaksızın özgül sosyal fobi (n=8), ÇKB olmaksızın yaygın sosyal fobi (n=10) ve ÇKB ile birlikte yaygın sosyalfobi (n=23). Gruplar, çeşitli ölçeklerden alınan puanlar açısından karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: ÇKB ile birlikte sosyal fobisi olan hastaların, ÇKB olmaksızın sosyal fobisi olan hastalara göre, daha şiddetli sosyal fobik korku ve kaçınmalarının olduğu saptandı. Üç grup değerlendirmeye alındığında ise; ÇKB'nin eşlik ettiği ve etmediği yaygın sosyal fobisi olan hastaların, ÇKB olmaksızın özgül sosyal fobisi olan hastalardan daha yüksek sosyal fobik korku puanı aldıkları belirlendi. Öte yandan, ÇKB ile birlikte yaygın sosyal fobisi olan hastaların aldıkları sosyal fobik kaçınma puanları, ÇKB ’nin eşlik etmediği özgül ve yaygın sosyalfobisi olan hastalardan daha yüksek bulundu. Tartışma: Bulgular, sosyal fobi alt tipleri ve ÇKB eştanısına göre belirlenen sosyal fobi alt grupları arasında, sosyal fobik korku ve kaçınma şiddetinin farklılık gösterdiğini ortaya koymuştur. Alt gruplar, anksiyete, depresyon ve genel belirtilerin şiddeti açısından ise, benzer bulunmuştur.

Objective: The objective of this study is to esamine the effects of social phobia subtypes and comorbid avoidant personality disorder (APD) on the psychopathology ofsocial phobia. Method: At the first step, social phobic patients were divided into two groups: social phobia without APD (n=18) and social phobia with APD (n=23). At the second step, three groups were classified by the subtypes of social phobia and the presence of APD: specific social phobia without APD (n=8), generalized social phobia without APD (n dOj, generalized social phobia with APD (n=23). The groups were compared in respect of the scores obtaned from various scales. Results: Compared to social phobic patients without APD, social phobic patients with APD were found to have more severe social phobic fear and avoidance. When three groups were laken into consideration, generalized social phobic subjects with and without APD reported greater social phobic fear than specific social phobic subjects without APD. On the other hand, generalized social phobic subjects with APD had more social phobic avoidance than the specific and generalized social phobic subjects without APD. Condusion: The findings showed that significant differences were found on the measures of social phobic fear and avoidance between the subgroups classified by subtypes of social phobia and APD comorbiditiy. The subgroups were similar in respect of the measures of aruciety, depression and general symptomatology.
