Sağlık hizmetleri bir ekip çalışmasıdır. Doktordan hemşireye, hasta bakıcıdan hastanede çalışan idari personele kadar herkes bu ekibin parçasıdır. Günümüze kadar sadece klinik branşlarda görülen bu ekip çalışmasının, adli tıp alanında da olması gerektiği düşünülmektedir. Aslında hemşirelerin adli olgularla tanışıklığı yeni değildir. Acil servislerde, yoğun bakımlarda, servislerde ve hatta polikliniklerde çalışan tüm hemşireler suç kurbanları ve failleri ile karşılaşmaktadırlar. Farklı olan ise gördüklerini adli hemşirelik eğitim ve deneyimleri ile birleştirerek adli araştırmaların doğru, tam, daha güvenilir ve hızlı yapılmasına katkıda bulunmalarıdır. Adli hemşirelik alanındaki en büyük sıkıntı ise görev tanımı ve fonksiyonlarının tam olarak tanımlanmamasıdır. Her ne kadar meslek özellikleri ve etik ilkeler çerçevesinde işlevleri tanımlansa da, şu an için uygulamada yaygın olarak yer almamaları nedeniyle bu konuda net sınırlar çizmek zordur. Türkiyede hemşireler adli tıp konusunda eğitim almamaktadır. Diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi kaliteli bir sağlık hizmeti için hemşirelik temel eğitimi içinde mutlaka adli tıbbın temel konuları (deliller ve toplanması, yaralar vb) yer almalı, meslek içi eğitim, master ve doktora programları ile bu alanda gerekli bilgi ve becerilere sahip hemşirelerin yetiştirilmesi desteklenmelidir.

Team work is essential in health services. Staff working at a hospital, i.e. doctors, nurses, nurses aides, and administrative staff are all members of the team. The team work, which has been adopted in clinical branches of medicine, is thought to be useful in forensic medicine departments as well. Nurses, as members of health staff, are familiar with forensic cases because they encounter victims and perpetrators in every department they work such as emergency departments, wards, intensive care units and even in outpatient clinics. However, they should be trained in forensic nursing and combine their experiences with knowledge about forensic nursing they will receive. Thereby, they can help forensic specialists to perform forensic examinations rapidly, safely and accurately. However, there is a problem that job description of a forensic nurse has not been made yet. Although duties and responsibilities of a forensic nurse can be outlined according to medical ethics, it is really difficult to give a complete written account of forensic nurses functions in practice because they are not widely employed in forensic examination teams. In Turkey , nursing students are not educated in forensic nursing. In order to improve forensic services, nursing students should be provided with knowledge about the basic issues in forensic nursing, such as , collection of forensic evidence and examination of wounds. In addition, graduate programs leading to M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in forensic nursing should be conducted and graduates of nursing schools should be provided with in-service training in forensic nursing when they work in forensic examinations.
