Bu çalışmanın amacı bir iş doyumu ölçeği olan "İş Betimlemesi Ölçeği"nin Türkçeye uyarlanmasıdır. Bu nedenle bir pilot çalışma gerçekleştirilerek 270 kadın, 465 erkek, toplam 735 denek üzerinde uygulama yapılmıştır. Çeviri ve geri çeviri işlemlerinden sonra yapılan uygulamadan elde edilen sonuçlar ölçeğin güvenirlik yönünden özgün formuna uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Faktör analizinde ölçeğin orijinal 5 faktörlü yapısına oldukça uygun sonuçlar elde edilmişse de, "şimdiki iş" ve "genel olarak iş" boyutlarının birbirinden yeterince ayrılmadığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, deneklerin iş doyumu puanlarının kamu ya da özel sektörde çalışmaya, yaşa, cinsiyete ve bazı boyutlarda mesleğe bağlı olarak değişme gösterdiğini bulunmuştur.

The purpose of this study was to adapt the “Job Descriptive index", a widely used measure of job satisfaction, into Turkish. A pilot study was conducted with the participation of 735 subjects of which 270 were females and 465 were males. After translation and retranslation procedures, the scale was administered to the subjects. The results indicated that the scale was found to be as reliable as the original version. Although the results of a factor analysis provided some support for the original five factor Solutions, the "Job in General" and “Work on Present Job" subscales were not clearly seperated. The results show that total job satisfaction scores varied according to the whether the organization was in public or private sector, subjects age, gender and occupation.
