Mizah Duygusu ve Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Arasındaki İlişki

Bu araştırmanın amacı, (a) mizah duygusu ile stresle başa çıkma tarzları arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek ve (b) yüksek veya düşük mizah duygusuna sahip olan kız ve erkek üniversite öğrencilerinin stresle başa çıkma tarzlarında farklılıklar bulunup bulunmadığnı araştırmaktır. Araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü olan 255 (138 Kız, 117., Erkek) üniversite öğrencisine Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği (SBTÖ) ve Durumluk Mizah Tepkisi Ölçeği (DMTÖ) uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin SBTÖ alt Ölçek puanlarıyla DMTÖ puanları arasında hesaplanan korelasyonlar iyimser ve kendine güvenli alt testlerinde anlamlı düzeyde bulunmuştur. SBTÖ alt ölçek puanlarına uygulanan 2 (yüksek-düşük mizah duygusu) X 2 (cinsiyet) MANOVA sonuçları, mizah duygusu ve cinsiyet temel etkilerinin anlamlı düzeyde olduğunu göstermiştir. Bulgular, yüksek mizah duygusuna sahip öğrencilerin iyimser ve kendine güvenli başa çıkma tarzlarına daha fazla başvurma eğiliminde olduklarını; cinsiyet farklılıklarına ilişkin sonuçlar ise, kız öğrencilerin daha çaresiz, erkek öğrencilerin daha iyimser başa çıkma tarzlarına başvurduklarını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Sonuçlar, mizah duygusu ve cinsiyet ortak etkisinin anlamlı düzeyde olmadığını göstermiştir.
The Relationship Between Sense of Humar and Coping Strategies
The purpose of this study was to investigate (a) the relationship between sense of humor and different coping strategies and (b) the differences between male and female university students’ different coping strategies as a function of sense of humor. Coping, Styles Inventory (CSI) and Situational Humor Response Questionnaire (SHRQ) were administered to 255 (138 Women, 117 Men) university students who volunteered to participate in the study. Significant correlation coefficients were found between optimistic and self-confident subscales of the CSI and the SHRQ scores of the students. The results of a 2 (high vs. low sense of humor) X 2 (gender) MANOVA employed to the coping style scores of the students showed significant main effects for sense of humor and gender. The results indicated that students with a high sense of humor seemed to prefer more optimistic and self-confident styles than those with a low sense of humor. The results concerning gender differences also revealed that females seemed to prefer helpless coping style and males fended to use optimistic coping style. Results revealed no significant sense of humor-gender interaction effect.
