Bu yazıda, ele aldığı konular ve uyguladığı yöntem bakımından 'geleneksel' sosyal psikolo-ji'ye eleştiri ve alternatif getiren Serge Moscovi-ci'nin (1961) Sosyal Temsiller Teorisinin tanıtıl­ması amaçlanmaktadır. "Sosyal Temsiller" ta­nım olarak, toplumların deneyimlerine dayana­rak ürettikleri; ortak teoriler, görüşler ve bilgileri içermektedir. Bireylerin bilişsel süreçlerinin vur­gulandığı Sosyal Biliş Teorisinin aksine, Sosyal Temsiller yaklaşımı, toplumun "ortak" bilişinin var olduğunu var sayar ve sosyal psikolojinin esas hedefinin bir toplumun tarihini kapsayan "uzun süreli" ve güncel olayları kapsayan "kısa süreli" hafızasına dayandırarak edindiği ortak bilgi ve teorilerden oluşması gerektiğini vurgu­lar. Bu çerçevede, Sosyal Temsiller yaklaşımı, her ne kadar sosyal psikoloji içerisinde yer alsa da; linguistik, tarih, sosyal psikoloji, sosyal psiki­yatri, antropoloji, sosyoloji ve medya çalışmaları gibi alanların ortak çalışmasını Ön görmektedir. Toplumda, özellikle kriz dönemlerinde üretilen, ya da değişikliğe uğrayan bilginin incelenmesi genellikle niteliksel yöntemlere dayandırılarak yapılmaktadır. Bu yazıda, sosyal temsiller yakla­şımı tarafından önerilen yöntemler kullanılarak; Türkiye'deki mevcut sosyal temsillerin İncelen­mesi önerilmektedir.

In this article, it is aimed to introduce the social representations theory of Serge Mosco-vici (1961) that emerged as an alternative and critical approach to the orthodox social psychology in terms of its contents of interest and methodolgy. Social Representations, by definition include common theories, opinions, and knowlege which are fabricated around socities' own experiences. Contrary to the Social Cognition Theory where individuals' cognitive processes are mostly emphasised, Social Representational approach assumes that a commonly shared cognition exists, and accents that the main target of social psychology requires the study of common knowlege and theories based on a society's long term memory which captures its history, and the short term memory which refers to the current events taking place in the society. In this framework, although social representational approach finds place in social psychology, it suggests collective studies from different fields, such as linguistics, history, social psychology, social psychiatry, antropology, sociology and media studies. The study of knowlege that is especially produced and changed during periods of crisis, is generally pursued through qualitative methods. In this article, it is recommended to examine the existing social representations in Turkey, utilising methods suggested by social representational approach.
