Psikiyatri uzmanları ceza hukuku ve medeni hukukla ile ilgili bilirkişilik hizmetlerini yürüttükleri sırada HYD gösteren olgularla karşılaşırlar. HYD düşünüldüğünde psikiyatri muayenesi uzun ve ayrıntılı yapılmalı, kişilerin ifade ve tutumlarındaki çelişkilere dikkat edilmelidir. Olguların hastalıklarını öne sürmeleri HYD yönünden değerli bir bulgudur. Antisosyal Kişilik Bozukluğu bulunan olgular HYD’a sık başvururlar. Kişilerin tıbbi ve adli kayıtları önemli ipuçları verir. Değerlendirme klinikte yatırılarak yapıldığında kişilerin ilişki biçimleri ve davranışları da önemli bulgular sağlar. Olgular psikoz taklidi yaparken varsanı ve sanrıları yeğlerler, ancak ayrıntılarda hata yapabilirler. Zeka geriliği, demans ve amnezi taklidi sırasında sergilenen belirtilerle ve hastalık şiddetiyle uyumsuz bulgular yol göstericidir. TSSB taklidi yapan olgularda finansal kazançlar ve işten kaçma eğilimi öne çıkar. Olguların nesnel değerlendirmesinde klinik testlerin önemli bir yeri vardır. Minnesota Çok Yönlü Kişilik Envanteri (MMPI) güvenirlik ölçekleri simülasyonun (hastalık benzetimi yoluyla hekimi yanıltıcı davranış) belirlenmesi için faydalıdır. Ülkemizde geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışması yapılmış MMPI-I ve Miller-Belirtilerin Adli Değerlendirme Ölçeği (M-FAST) mevcuttur. Cases that mimic psychosis prefer to simulate hallucination and delusion, but may fail in detail. During the imitation of mental retardation, dementia and amnesia the mismatch among the complaints, the severity and the expected signs of the diseases exhibited help for guiding. By cases pretending PTSD, financial gain and the tendency to absenteeism stand out. For the objective assessment of the cases clinical tests play an important role. The reliability of the subscales of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) proves to be useful to determine malingering. In our country there exist two scales whose validity and reliability studies have been performed, MMPI-I and Miller Forensic Assessment Scale (M-FAST).
