Bu hâdiseyle günlük hayatta daima karşılaşılmaktadır/ Büroda çalışırken içeri giren bir arkadaşın kıyafetinde nazarı dikkati celbeden; "Bugün ne kadar hoşsun. Bu eşarp bu elbiseye çok uymuş, sana çok yakışmış", dedirten şey, veyahut Beyoğlu caddesinde sinemadan çıkmış akşam yemeğine yetişmek için hızla âşinâ vitrinlerin Önünden geçerken, bir erkek kumaşının üzerine yerleştirilmiş kravatın bir an sizi yoldan alıkoyması, bu çalışmanın mevzuu içine girmektedir.

In this report some aspects of the problem of suitability in visual experience have been examined experimentally, the results analyzed, and some conclusions drawn. Man y situations i n daily lif e il ­ lustrate aspects of the problem considered here. A colleague or friend enters your office, you look up fro m your wor k and remark perhaps to yourself, "ho w nice yo u look, your scarf is exactly righ t wit h that blouse and the whol e ensemble suits yo u extremely well." Or, i n the evening on your wa y fro m the theater hurryin g home along the old Istiklâl Caddesi your eye is caught b y a good looking ti e i n â shop win ­ dow and you notice how admirably i t suits the jacket of the lay figur e and you stop for a moment to enjoy the pleasing visual experience. Such every-day experiences illustrate the problems of this study.
