Okul öncesi dönemde tanı konan dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB)'nun daha belirgin dil ve bilişsel sorunlar, daha yüksek psikiyatrik eştanı oranı, daha büyük psikososyal ve akademik bozulma ve okul yıllarında daha dirençli davranış sorunları ile ilişkili olabileceği düşünülmektedir. Bu nedenle DEHB'nin okul öncesi dönemde tanınıp ele alınması ve tedavi edilmesi önemlidir. DEHB'li okul öncesi çocukların tedavisinde psikososyal müdahaleler daima birinci basamak olmalıdır. Psikososyal müdahalelere yanıt alınamayan, şiddetli belirtileri olan ve kendine ya da çevresine zarar verme riski taşıyan olgularda psikofarmakolojik tedavi düşünülmelidir. Sınırlı sayıda araştırma metilfenidat ve atomoksetinin okul öncesi çocuklarda güvenli ve etkin olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu gözden geçirme yazısında okul öncesi DEHB'de etkinliği kanıtlanmış ebeveyn eğitim programlarının tanıtılması ve güncel psikofarmakolojik tedaviler ile ilgili yayınların tartışılması amaçlanmıştır.

Early onset of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may be associated with greater cognitive and language deficits, higher rates of psyciatric comorbidity, greater psychosocial and academic impairment, and persistence of behavior problems to school-age years. So, it is important to diagnose and treat ADHD at pre-school period. Psychosocial interventions should always be the first step for treatment of pre-school children with ADHD. Psychopharmacologic treatment should be thought for cases that does not reply to psychosocial interventions, having severe symptoms and having risk of injuring self or around. Limited studies indicate that methylphenidate and atomoxetine are effective and safe for pre-school children. Therefore, the purpose of present review is to presentation of proven parent training programs, and discussion of current psychopharmacological treatment study.
