Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı Görsel İşitsel Sayı Dizileri Testi B Formu’nun(GİSD-B) 6-11 yaş grubu denekler üzerinde norm değerlerini belirlemek, testin test-tekrar test yöntemiyle güvenirlik çalışmasını yapmak,çocuklarda bellek uzamının gelişimini ve bu gelişime yaş/sınıf ile cinsiyetin etkisini belirlemektir.
Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini 72-132 ay(6-11 yaş) arası,1.-5. Sınıfta okuyan 402 denek oluşturmuş,denekler yaş ve cinsiyetin düzeylerine dengeli olarak dağılmıştır.1.sınıf,72-84 ay;2.sınıf,85-96 ay;3.sınıf,97-108 ay;4.sınıf,109-120 ay ve 5.sınıf,121-132 ay aralığında yer alan öğrencileri kapsamıştır.Veriler GİSD-B’nin uygulanmasından elde edilen multimodal nitelikteki
Assessment of the development of the memory span of 6-11 [year] old children by Visual-Aural Digit Span -Revised Form (VADS-R)
Objective: The aim of this study is to describe the norms for the Visual-Aural Digit Span-Revised Form (VADS-R) to Turkish children of 6-11 [year]s of age, to conduct a reliability analysis through a test-retest method and to find out the development of the memory span as well as the age/grade and gender effects to this development. Method: The sample of this study consisted of 402 subjects between 6-11 [year]s (72-132 [month]s) studying in the first to fifth grades of primary schools. The first grade students were between 72-84 [month]s of age, second grade students were between 85-96 [month]s, third grade students were between 97-108 [month]s, fourth grade students were between 109-120 [month]s, and fifth grade students were 121-132 [month]s of age. The data consisted of 11 multimodal scores obtained from VADS-R. Results: The results indicated that all scores increased with age and age effect was significant. The effect of gender was observed only in the verbal scores in favor of boys. Discussion: The results were discussed in terms of memory span with the related literature. It was pointed out that the results of the study showed a parallel structure with the development of the frontal lobe. The implications for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was discussed and further research regarding memory span of Turkish children were suggested.
