Psikiyatri uzmanlık eğitimine betimleyici psikiyatri ile başlayan öğrenci, "bu hastada ne var? " sorusuna yanıt aramaktadır. İleri eğitimle birlikte çeşitli okullara, farklı kuramlara doğru gelişme gösterirken, artık "bu hastada neden bu var?" sorusu aydınlatılmaya çalışılır. Gerek kurumun eğilimine ve kurum içinde eğitim verenlerin birikimine, gerekse uzmanlık öğrencisinin beceri ve ilgisine göre değişik modeller eğitimin merkezine kayar. Bu eğitim süreci içinde her aşamada ruhsal bozuklukların sınıflandırılmasında kullanılan tanı sistemleri uzmanlık öğrencisinin karşısına çıkmaktadır. Dünya Sağlık Örgütü'nün ICD, Amerikan Psikiyatri Birliği'nin DSM kitapçıkları günümüzde klinisyenlerin sıklıkla kullandığı tanı sistemleridir. DSM tanı sistemi psikopatolojiyi yapılandırılmakta, nesnelleştirilmekte ve gruplandırmaktadır. Tanı sisteminin öğrenilmesi ile uzmanlık öğrencisi için psikiyatrik bozukluklar soyut ve havada kavramlar olmak yerine, daha somut ve ölçülebilir sınıflar haline dönüşür. Uzmanlık öğrencisi bir hastada neleri sunacağını ya da aktaracağını, izlerken hangi özelliklerinin sorgulanması gerektiğini kafasında canlandırır. Hastayı sunmada da dil birliği sağlayarak uzmanlık öğrencisinin öznel terminoloji içinde bocalamasını engeller. Any student who begin his psychiatric education is looking for the answer of "What is the problem of this patient? " according to descriptive psychiatric approach. As his education progress, his approaches changes also in the light of different theories and schools and the question of "What is the cause(s) of this patient's problems?" is being evacuated and understood. Either the trends of education institution, trainers knowledge and the student's interest and skills becomes the core of the education. During this education student faces in every steps with the diagnostic systems used in the classification of mental disorders. Actually the most fragment used diagnostic systems by clinicians are ICD manual of World Health Organization and DSM Manual of American Psychiatric Association. DSM system is structurize provide the diagnostic objectivity and classifies the psychopathologic states. As the student learns the diagnostic systems psychiatric disorders becomes more comprehensive and measurable categories in spite of abstract and ununderstandable theories. Student becomes to realize the patients features in order to present his situation. These system prevents the students from [language] distortions by providing a [language] uniformity. This article focuses on the diagnostic systems during the psychiatry residency training .
