Amaç: Bu çalışmada, menopoz döneminde hormon yerine koyma sağaltımı (HYS) amaçlı kullanılan östrojen ve tibolonun, yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkilerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Bu çalışmaya Mersin Üniversitesi Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Polikliniğine başvuran doğal yoldan menopoza girmiş kadınlar alınmıştır. Denekler rastgele iki gruba ayrılarak bir gruba 17b-östradiol diğer gruba ise tibolon tedavisi verilmiştir. Tüm hastalar sağaltım öncesinde ve 3 aylık sağaltım sonrasında SF-36 yaşam kalitesini değerlendirme ölçeği ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan 70 hastanın 46’sı çalışmayı tamamlamıştır. Östrojen kullanan hasta grubu (n=23) ile tibolon kullanan hasta grubunun (n=23) yaş ortalamaları, eğitim düzeyleri ve meslek dağılımları farklı değildi. Tibolon grubunda menopoz süresi daha uzundu. Östrojen kullanan hastaların mental sağlık, vitalite ve sosyal fonksiyonlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir iyileşme saptanırken, tibolon kullanan hastalarda fiziksel rol kısıtlılığı ve sosyal fonksiyonda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı iyileşme saptandı. Tartışma: Bu çalışmada, HYS’nın menopoz hastalarının yaşam kaliteleri üzerine olumlu etkileri olduğu, bu olumlu etkinin östrojen ve tibolon kullanan gruplarda farklı alanlarda gözlendiği saptanmıştır.

Objective: To investigate the effects of oestrogen and tibolon, both used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in menopause, on quality of life. Method: Women with natural menopause who applied to outpatient clinic of obstetrics and gynecology department of Mersin University, were included in the study. Subjects were randomized into two groups with one group to receive 17b-estradiol and other group tibolon. Quality of life were evaluated in all subjects at baseline and after 3- [month]s of HRT with Short Form-36 (SF-36). Results: Of the 70 patients included, 46 completed the study. The 17b-estradiol (n=23) and the tibolon (n=23) groups were similar with respect to age, education and occupational status. The time from onset of menopause was longer in the tibolon group. Women receiving HRT with oestrogen showed statistically significant increases in mental health, vitality and social functioning scores, while women receiving tibolon treatment showed significant increases in role physical and social functioning. Conclusion: This study suggests that HRT positively affects quality of life in menopausal women and improvements may be observed in different domains depending on the treatment regimen used.
